Stifford Clays
Clive Broad (UKIP)
Angie Gaywood (Lab)
Tom Kelly (Cons)
Karne McGinn (BNP)
Once again, a ward that has changed hands several times depending on a number of factors. Labour candidate Angie Gaywood has “done her time” standing as the Orsett candidate in 2008 and 2007. Angie has her finger on the pulse on a number of issues from parking at Stifford Clays primary to the preservation of the State Cinema. In many ways, Angie has a great opportunity but also a problem should she win as the recent crop of new young Labour councillors have hardly set the world on fire.
Tory Tom Kelly has defected from the Lib-Dems to the Tories which underpins the claim that they are quite a broad church of political ideology. Having said that former Tory councillor Leo Milan-Vega has been helping the Labour campaign so clearly not that broad.
Speaking of broad, Clive has really been enjoying the national campaign and may pick up a few local votes here, probably from both parties.
Prediciton: Lab Gain
