Armed Robbery at Tesco’s Express

Detectives in Thurrock are appealing for information about a man who held up two security guards delivering cash to the Tesco Express service station in North Road, South Ockendon on Monday, May 17.

It was around 3.15pm when a black man, holding a handgun approached the security guards from behind at the ATM kiosk and threatened them. He took money, totalling thousands of pounds and ran off over the fence and into fields.

The guards were not injured.

The robber is described as black, medium build and height, wearing black clothing and had his face covered. He was carrying a black holdall bag.

Police want to hear from anyone who recognises this man, may have seen him hanging around in a nearby garden prior to the robbery or knows what direction he went after the incident. He headed towards Hall Lane and police want to hear from anyone who may have seen him or a vehicle around 3.20pm.
