Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a dog from a heavily smoke logged bungalow. Crews used one hose reel to tackle the fire in the terraced property.
On arrival at the scene, crews reported that the whole of the property was heavily smoke-logged.
Initially two appliances were sent to the incident. But on arrival, the officer in charge requested the attendance of a third appliance after being told it was possible that someone was inside. However, everyone was accounted for soon after.
The fire was out by 20:10 hrs. Crews then used a high pressure fan to clear the bungalow of smoke.
A joint Police and Fire Service investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident.
