Fola Leaves Thurrock

THURROCK manager Hakan Hayrettin is confident that he will retain the key players from his squad.

He said, “We have all just returned from our team building trip to Magaluf, I believe everybody enjoyed their time there and hopefully the bonding of players will be carried over into their performances in the new season.

But I am disappointed that Fola Orilonishe has decided to leave the club, I wish him all the best, he has given me a fantastic service, he was with me first at Waltham Forest and then I bought him to Thurrock, I understand his reasons behind the decision and I believe he is seeking a move to Sutton United if both clubs can reach an agreement.

“I hope it’s the only player we loose as I am trying to enhance my squad but there is a danger that after such a great season other clubs with money may come along and tempt some of them away. I know that a number of them have been watched and approaches made, but we are optimistic because of the bonding and team spirit that we have at the club so I hope that the majority will stay to enjoy another season.

I am still in contact with a number of players wishing to join the club and I will be making plans over the next few weeks deciding on who we may need to take the club further.

I would also like to say congratulations to Andy Hessenthaler on his appointment at Gillingham, this shows that League Clubs are willing to venture into the non league divisions to give young up and coming managers the opportunity to prove themselves. I believe there are a lot of talented mangers in the non league, who are just waiting for their chance, I hope Andy proves me right”.
