Thurrock Athletes Step Up To Plate

ONE of the hardest things four developing athletes is to try and compete with athletes a year or three older than you.

However, the young charges at Thurrock Harriers put themselves up against much older athletes at the National Under 20’s League match at Ware, Hertfordshire.

Top of the list was Emmanuel Stephens who shone in both the 100m with an easy 10.9 seconds, and the 200m with a time of 21.9 seconds.

Darryl Worbey continued his good form to place second in the 1500m,. Linzi Boosey topped the girls with a throw of 39.39m in the Hammer event. Newcomer Jack, threw well in the discus to place third.

This season is the first that the Club has entered a team in this League. Team Manager, Gerry Heapy, was pleased with the day’s performances.
