The death of a man in Grays is now being treated as murder by detectives.
Police were contacted shortly before 4:30pm on sunday, May 16 following concerns for the welfare of a man in a flat on Darnley Road.
Officers arrived and discovered the body of 59-year-old Daniel Thomas. A post-mortem examination showed the provisional cause of death to be multiple stab wounds.
Following a series of forensic examinations, it has now been determined that the injuries were inflicted by another person.
Detectives are looking to speak with anyone who knew Daniel Thomas or any of his friends.
On Thursday, May 27, an 18-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested in Maidstone in Kent on suspicion of murder and subsequently released on police bail until Thursday, July 15 pending further enquiries.
