Stanford Silence Brave Belhus

Stanford-Le-Hope CC 212/9 (40overs) beat Belhus CC 152 all out (32.4 overs) by 60 runs.

On a glorious day at North Stifford, Stanford won the toss and elected to bat. Belhus opening bowlers Luke Clements (1/28) and Connor Day (1/32) bowled tightly and removed Stanford opener Matt Higgins (13) cheaply.

This brought Robert Page (39) to the crease and he started to up the anti with some bludgeoning blows over the top in a quickfire innings. Lee Knight frustrated the Belhus bowlers and was the mainstay of the Stanford Innings with a very patient 64. Greg Cohen and Harry Maher both scored 26 which enable Stanford to reach the 200.

In return, Greg Cohen bowled Mason Wren for a golden duck and Andrew Love removed dangerman Paul Bennett with a full toss that was placed into the hands of Dave Gaylor. Belhus fought back through Dan Norris (30) and Joe Joyce (51) and looked to take the game away from Stanford. However, the Stanford captain introduced spinner Neil Samwell (2/23) and quick Harry Maher (3/24) to put a strangle hold on the Belhus innings.

In a superb bowling display, both Samwell and Maher demolished the stumps of Winter, Baker and Clarke Wren, whilst Norris was caught by Leslie and Maher caught the impressive Joyce off the bowling off Samwell. Ian Sanderson (1/17) and Greg Barr (1/20) finished off the Belhus tail leading Stanford to their 4th league win on the spin.
