Davy Down Trustees welcomed over 150 visitors to their Heritage Open Day this weekend. Visitors had a rare opportunity to go round the Essex and Suffolk Water Treatment works as well as the beautiful Stifford Pumping Station.
The children did not miss out and were still able to go pond dipping and meet and greet Warden Steve’s collection of reptiles.
Among the visitors were Clive Attwood and Ray Smallcombe of Grays Public Purposes and Recreational Trust who came to present a cheque to Reg Fowler and other Davy Down Trustees.
Ray said: “I know they were disappointed to fail the green flag and we wanted to help them to be successful in 2011. I live in North Stifford and it has been lovely to see the improvements at Davy Down and the Mardyke Valley”.
Ray would love to hear from other groups and individuals needing small grants on raysmallcombe@hotmail.co.uk
