YourThurrock understands that the controversial care home, 51-53 Mollands Lane in South Ockendon has closed down.
The home, run by Southend-based Estuary Housing has been dogged by controversy over the last five years.
In 2007, it was the subject of a six-month police investigation after allegations of abuse were made by a staff member at the home.
No charges were proferred.
The home was also the subject of a number of damning reports by the government watchdogs CSCI and CQC. Each report gave the home just “One Star” or “Adequate” and made a number of severe criticisms of the home which catered for people with severe learning difficulties.
YourThurrock contacted Estuary Housing to ask a number of questions including questions relating to the welfare of the former residents.
To this date we have not received any reply.
