Robbery in South Ockendon

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 36-year-old man was robbed in Bann Close, South Ockendon.

At 9.05pm on Wednesday, September 15, suspects approached the victim and threatened him with a sharp implement to hand over money. They got away with an estimated £60 cash, leaving the victim with a small cut on his cheek.

Investigating officer, Dc Steve Bailey, said: “The man was working as a delivery driver, and it is unacceptable that he had to endure this whilst trying to make a living. He was slightly injured, but it clearly could’ve been a lot worse. I would appeal to the conscience of anyone that knows who did this or saw the attack to come forward and help us with our investigation.”

Both suspects were white men, aged between 20-29-years old. One was 5’10” tall, of a medium build, wearing a black hooded jacket and dark bottoms. The second suspect was 5’8” tall, of a stocky build, wearing a white sweatshirt, dark bottoms and had a tan coloured dog with him, possibly a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact South Ockendon CID on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
