Thurrock to get share of £14m new homes boost.

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the single housing and regeneration agency for England investing in communities, has confirmed £14.8 million funding to provide approximately 390 new homes to be started this financial year in Thurrock and Essex.

Projects are being enabled across the county of Essex, funded from the National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP), which the HCA manages. Some of the schemes that will receive funding are located within Basildon, Southend and Thurrock, with a total investment of £7.6 million. The rest are spread across the county and in total will provide homes for approximately 1387 people on the housing needs list.

Naisha Polaine, Head of Area for the HCA in the East of England said: “This is positive news for both local residents and our partners. The £14m over the next three years will enable new homes to be built which in turn will address the local housing needs of Thurrock and Essex.

“Through our investment and skills we have been able to help local authorities meet the needs and aspirations of their communities. We are in uncertain times with a recovering economy and housebuilding industry, however, we will continue to support partners the best we can working in a practical, flexible and innovative way to bring together local investment, and maximise impact and value for money. It’s important that we secure the best possible value for public funds, more so now that ever before.”
