Personal safety highlighted by partnership

MONDAY was National Personal Safety Day. Stakeholders from the Thurrock Community Safety Partnership were out giving information and advice in Thurrock Council’s Civic Offices and railway stations across the borough where posters were also on display.

The event has been organised by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust with the message:

“Follow these 5 SIMPLE STEPS to SAFETY:”

Stay Alert – if you are wearing headphones you will be distracted.

Invest in a Personal Safety Alarm

Make sure you avoid danger spots – stick to busy well-lit streets.

Plan Ahead – know where you’re going and the best way to get there.

Listen to your instincts – if you feel threatened head for a safe/busy place.

Ensure you take the same precautions wherever you are – even close to home.

Thurrock Council Portfolio Holder for Crime and Disorder, Councillor Gerard Rice said: “We work very hard to make people safe and feel safe in Thurrock but by taking a few simple steps whether close to home or out and about everyone can do their bit to improve their own personal safety.”
