Tickets for The Purfleet Opera, Ludd and Isis, go on sale exclusively for Thurrock residents at the Thameside Theatre from 10am on Monday 25 October. Booking will open to other patrons on Tuesday 2 November.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be one of the first to see a world class production made in Thurrock and performed in Purfleet. Professional dancers, singers and musicians from the Royal Opera House will perform alongside the local cast in this spectacular celebration to mark the opening of the High House Production Park and the Royal Opera House Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop. The workshop will be home to the scenic painters and carpenters of the Royal Opera House.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 1000 Thurrock residents, from community choir members to school children, have been involved in the creation of The Purfleet Opera. Over the months they have researched the history of Purfleet, developed a story, created characters, put forward ideas for the music and worked on building the set and making the costumes and props. Now it is time to enjoy the results of all their hard work.
There will be four public performances of The Purfleet Opera, Ludd and Isis beginning on Tuesday 7 December, and from Thursday 9 until Saturday 11 December. The performance begins at 7.30pm and will take place at the High House Production Park in Purfleet.
Prior to the performance, audiences will be able to enjoy a traditional Victorian fair in celebration of the last Purfleet Fair held in 1910. The newly developed gardens and open spaces of the Production Park will be transformed into a fairground with intriguing and unusual sideshows and activities, in which Thurrock residents will take part.
Tickets are priced at £10 with concessions £5. They can be purchased from the Thameside Theatre Box Office from 10am on Monday 25 October, in person or by phone. The Thameside Box Office can be contacted on 0845 300 5264. Thurrock residents have priority until Tuesday 2 November when booking will open through the Royal Opera House Box Office on 020 7304 4000 to those living outside Thurrock.
