Firefighters were called to a derelict church hall on fire in Moore Avenue, Grays this morning (Tuesday). The hall measured approximately 50 x 10 metres and was 100 percent alight.
Crews used five main jets, one ground monitor and four hose reels to extinguish the fire by 04:33, two thermal image cameras were used to check for any hotspots.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, ECFRS and the police are carrying out an investigation.
