Police seek man in green car after several incidents near schools

Police in Thurrock are warning parents and students to be careful after reports of a man in a green Ford car acting suspiciously near schools.

Police have increased patrols in the area around several schools and are undertaking house to house enquiries and reviewing CCTV.

In the first incident on November 23 a boy riding a bike was smacked on the bottom as he cycled past a man who got out of a green Ford Focus on Victoria Avenue, Grays.

Two girls reported being watched by a man, in a green Mondeo, outside their school in Ward Avenue, Grays on November 24 and police have received a third hand report that a man driving a green Ford Focus approached a girl near Grays School but was chased off by older students from the school.

DI Danny Stoten said: “We are taking these incidents seriously and want the find the man responsible. The young boy was shocked but otherwise uninjured and the girl who was reported as being approached by the man has not reported this to police and we would urge her to do so. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Grays CID on 0300 333 4444.”
