A GANG who stole £4,000 of cigarettes from a Stanford-le-Hope petrol station were covered in curry during the raid.
Staff at the Jet garage in Southend Road, Stanford Le Hope, were confronted by five or six men on Wednesday night.
The cashier spilt his supper as he was punched by the raiders.
Detectives believe they were on foot and escaped over a wall behind the service station into Scratton Road.
One of the men was wearing a grey hooded Adidas jacket and grey jogging bottoms with a white stripe.
A second man wore a jacket with ‘Ed Hardy’ written on it.
Police want anyone who is asked to wash curry-stained clothes to call them after the raid in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.
Essex police said: “The robbers are all quite young so if their mums or girlfriends who have found curry-stained clothes in the laundry I would ask them to contact police.”
