THURROCK Thames Gateway Development Corporation (DC) planner James Bompass has been nominated for the prestigious award of young planner of the year by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

James has worked for the DC since 2005 on both development management and strategic planning. He has been responsible for overseeing the production and approval of a suite of policy documents that seeks to provide a minimum of 18,500 new homes and 26,000 new jobs in a sustainable way by 2021. He has also worked closely on the Lakeside Single Issue Review and in responding to the borough’s forthcoming local development framework prior to its examination in public.

The winner, to be announced at the RTPI Planning Awards on 3 February, will win expenses-paid trips to next year’s American Planning Association national conference in Boston and Planning Summer School in Swansea.
