Man robbed in Hangman’s Woods

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man was robbed in Hangman’s Woods, Woodview, Grays.

At 11.55am on Thursday, December 16, two suspects barged into the victim as he was crossing a footbridge near Hangman’s Woods, over the A1089 road and Grangewood Avenue, Grays. The suspects removed an estimated £100 cash from his pocket before ripping off a gold chain around his neck, worth an estimated £70. The suspects then made off back towards the woods.

Investigating officer, Pc Annabelle Shaker, said: “There may have been people walking through the area who may have seen this, or saw the pair in the area. If you did see anything, we want to hear from you, as any amount of information may prove vital to us catching this pair.”

The suspects were both white men in their late 30s. The first suspect was 6’1” tall, of a stocky build, with thin balding brown or mousy hair, wearing light blue denim jacket, blue jeans, plain white t-shirt, dark coloured shoes similar to ‘Rockport’ or ‘Kickers’. The second suspect was 6’3” tall, of a slim build, with short brown un-styled hair, wearing shiny Nike tracksuit bottoms with the word Nike written in large silver letters, a grey or black puffer jacket and white trainers.
