Thurrock took their youngest swimmers to Braintree and entered them into The Essex Championship Relays. Three teams in all made up of Girls “B” Chelsea Clarke, Maggie Wood, Bethany Bryne, Ellen Pegrum, Girls “A” Eavie Mickley, Imagine Stuart, Darcey Morris, Lily May and a boys team, Danny Patterson, Jay Pilkington, Tom Lyons, and Joseph Kilsby.
First to enter the water were the Thurrock girls “B” in the 4 x 50 IM, strong swims, and determined finishes from all the girls, just missing out on a place in the final.
Next up Thurrock girls “A”, each swimmer performing and pushing for their team mates, and their efforts paid off with a well earned place in the final.
So to the boys for the 4 x 50 freestyle and not to be outdone by the girls they got their place in the final.
Girls 4 x 50 IM was a delight! From back to breast to fly to freestyle each and every leg of the relay was well fought and was rewarded with a Silver!
Boys 4 x 50 freestyle wasn’t going to disappoint! A close fought race, spectators screaming encouragement!! Every young lad that hit that water hit hard and battled to bring home a Bronze!
After a well earned lunch break the youngster were back in the water. This time it was the boys up first.
Boys 4 x 50 IM, these guys may be our youngest fighters, but boy can they pack a punch straight into the final!
Girls 4 x 50 freestyle, saw Thurrock “B” our youngest girls again just missing out on a place in the final but with performances that said “beware” for future competitions.
Thurrock “A” next, again good swims from all girls, just making the finals.
So to the finals, boys first, this saw each swimming at full steam, determined to make the podium, and make it they did all the way to another Bronze!!!!
Girls final, could they keep up the good work? They certainly could!! What a final this was every spectator out of their seat. Thurrock entered the final the underdog, but from the start all but dominated, to take Silver!
