Top ten ranking for Ormiston

Ormiston Park Academy recently sat down and assessed their contextual value added results and shocked themselves with a potentially major Contextual Value Added result, ranking them top 10 in the country.

Today, they can finally confirm their result of 1070- with recent coverage produced in the TES, they have been ranked ‘top ten’ in the country.

From a total of 3,196 state secondary schools, Ormiston Park Academy is ‘top ten in the country’ according to the TES in the Contextual Value Added (CVA) league table, after the DFE confirmed the figures.

CVA scores assess how well a schools pupils’ have progressed between the ages of 11 and 16. The measure takes into account the students starting point and factors such as deprivation and special needs.

As you may well know, Ormiston Park Academy has a hopeful future ahead with all its exciting plans. Last year’s CVA result, 1047 put them in the top 2% of schools in the country and therefore a result of 1070 has stood them in good stead as its first year as an Academy, and being able to fulfil these ambitions that were once dreamed of, has certainly secured an exciting future.

Huw Derrick, Vice Principal at OPA said: “Our calculations went through rigorous checks, so we were fairly certain that we’d achieve a minimum CVA percentage of 1060, so to receive a figure of 1070 and then to have it published in the TES as the ‘top 10,’ we are certainly over-joyed!”
