New trees at Brandon Groves

On Monday (17 January) and Tuesday this week a total of 23 trees were planted as the council’s horticulture team worked with specialist contractors Essex Arboriculture.

Ward councillors worked hard to ensure money from local developments — known as Section 106 — was available for the scheme.

Cllr Barry Johnson said: “This enabled the council to be proactive in planting trees that will eventually replace some species that are coming towards the end of their life as well as replacing the diseased trees which had to be cut down.

“I spent Monday with the Essex Arb team and was very pleased at the residents’ reactions — it makes you proud to be part of something positive.”
