A planned fuel protest outside Coryton Oil Refinery was called off on Saturday due, according to the organisers, to police harrassment.
There was a considerable police presence outside Coryton on the Manor Way in Corringham on Saturday but the demonstrators did not emerge.
According to sources, protest group Stop the Rip Off updated its online Facebook page to say the blockade had been cancelled until next weekend because of police intimidation.
