Another splendid and perhaps true grit performance from Thurrock in this local derby, going behind after just 90 seconds and with Ebbsfleets place exposing the Thurrock defence during the early exchanges it was with high anticipation that the Thurrock supporters looked to see if they could pull this one out of the bag and maintain Grant Gordon’s unbeaten run as Manager.
After the initial shock of conceding Thurrock regained their composure and took control in the latter half of the first half. Joe Woolley once again saved them with two splendid one on one’s and Matt Bodkin and Liam Harwood both tested Preston Edwards in the Ebbsfleet goal.
Thurrock equalised on 34 minutes, a corner that was headed towards goal from Kenny Clark was pushed away by Edwards but only as far as David Knight wide on the left and he spectacularly hit a curling shot over his shoulder and into the far corner of the net.
Straight from the restart of the second half Ebbsfleet once again scored from a set peice with Tom Phipp heading home from close range.
Thurrock had to dig deep into there re found confidence and maintained they still managed to trouble the Ebbsfleet defence.
They once again equalised wen a free kick fro Craig Pope was floated deep to the far post where Joao Carlos headed back across the goal, a scrabble ensued and it was Kenny Clark how got the vital touch to put the ball into the net.
Thurrock looked good for a point and came home with Grant Gordon’s unbeaten run extended to four games.
