DOCKERS boss Paul Vaughan was delighted with the second win on the bounce for Tilbury as they beat Ilford 2-1 at Chadfields.
After last weeks victory over Harlow and recent excellent displays, Tilbury are keen to build upon the improvements.
In a stale first half any created chances were mainly off-target, until Ilford’s Junoir Appiah showed class as he flicked the ball over the defender before diverting the ball into the top corner on 33 minutes.
It wasn’t until the second half, when the game begin to flow as Tilbury got back on level terms as a clearance fortunately fell to Sam West as the defender superbly volleyed the ball past Budd.
The game was still very tight and could have gone either way to the tie was settled ten minutes from time. As Tilbury subsitute Chris Stowe was illegally forced to the floor for a penalty which the ever reliable Ben Bradbury dispatched the ball to give Tilbury the lead and all three points.
Paul Vaughan said: “Coming back form 1-0 down was vital for us. I had to get into the lads a little bit at half time. After that, we really got going.
“Hats off to Ben Bradbury. That was a real pressure cooker penalty.
“This result makes Tuesday nights home fixture against Waltham Forest massive. We are really looking forward to it.”
