Poor turnout for fuel protests at Coryton

THE POLICE expected a huge convoy of cars, motorbikes and protestors to descend upon the Coryton Oil Refinery in Thurrock this morning as part of a concerted campaign against the petrol price rises.

But whereas over 500 people protested at Stanlow near Chester, eight people turned up in Corringham.

With over fifteen police vehicles in attendance, many will speculate as to how much this may have cost the taxpayer.

We spoke to the organisers and asked them to assess the impact of the mornings events or non-events and where the campaign goes from there.
