Royal Opera House Thurrock is looking for local residents to join a new Community Chorus which will meet weekly during term time and is open to people, aged eight and over living in Thurrock.
The Chorus will work on a variety of musical styles, chosen by the musical director, including some pieces from the The Royal Opera repertory.
The Community Chorus will be open to both experienced singers and those with no previous experience and develop individuals’ skills and extend their abilities. Public performances across Thurrock and the wider region will showcase the talent and commitment of the new Community Chorus.
Royal Opera House Education has been working in Thurrock since 2007 and has involved many people in its large-scale performance-based projects: the most recent being The Purfleet Opera: Ludd and Isis, which opened the new Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop on the High House Production Park in December 2010. Singing has been an integral part of these productions and many local people have expressed their desire to continue singing. The benefits of singing for people’s confidence, well-being and health are well known and the new Thurrock Community Chorus will offer local residents all these plus the opportunity to perform and celebrate the talent of the area.
Rehearsals for the Community Chorus will start mid-April, dates and times to be confirmed shortly. If you would like more information about joining the Community Chorus, please contact Alton Brown on 01708 892 823 or email us at email@example.com.
