Ockendon councillor: My first year

OCKENDON councillor Lynn Carr is coming up to her first year as a councillor. When she was asked to stand, Lyn felt the task was quite daunting.

A year on, Lynn is really enjoying the job.

Lynn said: “Before I reflect on what I feel I have achieved, I want to thank all those who have helped me. The Housing Estates Office have been fantastic.

When you receive issues to do with housing, it is complicated but time after time they have helped me.

“I would also like to thank my fellow Conservative councillors in Ockendon, Barry Johnson and Amanda Arnold. They really welcomed me into the team. There is so much to learn both in the chamber and out in the ward.

“I think we have achieved a great deal especially in relation to anti-social behaviour and housing issues.

“I’m a humble footsoldier, learning my trade on the backbenches but it has been very fulfilling.

  1. Dear Lynn Carr, I wonder if you help us people who along Stifford Road, in the Belhus ward, we have upto three hundred lorriwes aday trundling passed our homes on a 24/7 basis, we all pay our rent and council taxes, we have one wish to live our lives in peace, instead of Air and Noise pollution we have to put up with, I am sure the dust and filth gets into our homes, we surely have a basic right to breath frsh air and be free from the constant drone of HGV lorries at 02:30hrs on a Sunday morning, its bad enough that we can hear the M25 from our front and rear gardens, or when we open our windows, we are unable to get our ward councillors interested in helping us, as they are to busy helping the residents of the South Ockendon ward, we dont seem to count anymore, we have been in touch with Amanda Arnold, who as helped us, with lorrie counts etc, perhaps you could help us with our basic rights, so that we can live our lives free from the Air and Noise pollution that we all have to endure everyday of the year. Thank you.
