C2C have been named as the most punctual rail company in Britain in February.

The London to Tilbury and Southend firm achieved 96.5% punctuality.

Over the national network, 92.4% of trains arrived on time for the period February 6 to March 5, 2011, said Network Rail (NR).

This compared with 91.8% for the same period last year and was the best ever figure for the month of February.

But punctuality on the East Coast Main Line only reached 82.5% last month compared with 86.7% in the same period of 2010.

East Coast was the only company not to reach a trains-on-time figure of at least 90% last month.

NR operations and customer services director Robin Gisby said: “Trains on time are what matter most to passengers, train operators and Network Rail. This is the good service we must deliver – day in, day out.

“NR still has areas to improve, particularly for operators who use the East Coast Main Line. While there has been an improvement in performance compared to last month, there is still some way to go to reach the high standards we set for ourselves and which our customers rightly expect.”

  1. Well done to all those at C2C, as a regular commuter on this line I can testify to the punctuallity of this service, the problem is when something is so punctual people only recall the disruptions..
