Borough set to celebrate royal wedding

THE WEDDING OF Prince William and Kate Middleton is set to be celebrated across the borough on Friday.

Residents in Whitehall Road in Grays, and Aveley High Street have got permission to close their roads for their own street parties.

Whitehall Road, Grays (between Ingram Rd and Rogers Rd)

Aveley High Street, Aveley (between Ship Ln and Dacre Ave)

The Thurrock Asian Association is inviting everyone to join them for a celebration of the happy event at their resource centre at 35 Clarence Road, Grays, from 4pm to 6pm.

Everyone is asked to bring along their own cakes so they can enjoy the party atmosphere with a cup of tea or coffee. They will also be showing a DVD of the Queen handing put awards to local dignitaries.

At Leatherland Lodge care home ( a branch of Kathryn Homes in South Ockendon, the staff and residents are busying preparing for a lovely day. They will be watching the wedding in the morning and then will have lunch followed by a relaxing afternoon with a buffet and drinks. During lunch time, all their residents are going to be presented with a mug to commemorate the wedding which they can use for themselves.

There are also celebrations in Stanford and Chafford Hundred.
