THE FINAL year students at Performers College in Corringham will be taking to the stage at the Thameside Theatre over two nights with a production of Cry Baby
The show is the culmination of the three year course at the college and is seen as the final transition between college and the professional world.
Cry Baby started out as a 1990 John Waters film starring Johnny Depp but has transferred very successfully to the stage.
In 1954 Baltimore, Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker is the leader of a gang of “Drapes”, which includes his teenage mom sister Pepper, facially disfigured Mona “Hatchet Face” Malnorowski, wild and free-spirited Wanda Woodward, and Milton Hackett, the nervous son of overzealous religious parents. His ability to shed a single tear drives all the girls wild.
The show is directed by Simon Adkins, who has just spent three years on the West End in Jersey Boys. It is choreographed by Emma Rogers who toured the world with Man in the Mirror.
Performances are at 7.30pm on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th.
