VOLUNTEERS from McDonald’s restaurants, along with members of their families, will be getting behind ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ at Lakeside Shopping Centre on Sunday 15th May. The team will begin litter picking at 9am, working their way around the shopping centre’s open air car parks, to raise awareness of the campaign.
McDonald’s supports Keep Britain Tidy by raising awareness in its restaurants and organising clean-up events like the planned one at Lakeside. The restaurant chain also became a founding member of ‘Love Where You Live’, a new anti-littering campaign, in March
Jez Langhorn, vice president, McDonald’s UK, commented: “For twenty years we have been sending out daily litter patrols and organising larger ‘clean up’ events. We hope that together, we can encourage more people to take pride in their local area and reduce the amount of litter on our streets even further.”
Kylie Minor, Acting Marketing Manager at Lakeside says; “We’re proud of the clean environment that we provide and maintain for our shoppers and stores, but mindless littering continues to be a frustration. We’re delighted that our McDonald’s teams are taking positive steps to discourage littering and encourage others to get involved with similar, worthwhile campaigns.”
