Monthly Report by Janet McCheyne

PC Mark Adderley is a member of the Police Motorcycle Team and has been allocated to police the A128 from Tilbury to Ongar.  He showed us the laser device he uses, which has a range of 1,000 metres, and said he had recently carried out 3 “100 vehicle checks”.

As the A128 is a single-track road, HGVs should be travelling at no more than 40mph. Mark was asked by residents if a 30mph limit could be put onto our stretch of the A128, as there are 5 junctions within half a mile – Mark will ask, and will also try to find out why the slip road into the Pear Tree Lane turning has been cross-hatched.  Mark can be contacted on 0300 333 4444 extension 480519.

PC Brian Sargeant reported that bailiffs took 2 horses away from Blacksmith’s Field, following the court action taken against the illegal occupation of the field by the horses’ owner.

Please ‘phone the Parks manager on 01375 413623 to report loose horses, and ask for a reference number.  Brian will be monitoring parking and speeding around Bulphan School, and he strongly urged all residents to report anything suspicious, especially vehicles, as burglaries are still a problem.  If in doubt, report: he won’t mind false alarms.

Cllr. Mike Revell had no information regarding acceptable use of the Harrow Inn site and suggested that we contact the planning officers to find out.

He, and some residents, had submitted an objection to the latest planning application by Sims Milling to increase activities at Burrows Farm and gave us details of the senior officers who would be responsible for any future enforcement.

Mike Penning, Parliamentary under-secretary for transport , will be attending a public meeting at Langdon Hills Golf Club in the near future, to discuss Option C, the Thames Crossing which will cut across Chadwell St Mary, Orsett and the outskirts of Bulphan to take traffic north.

Tennis coaching has been arranged and will be on Wednesdays, from 3.30pm: group sessions for 3 – 6 year olds, 7 – 11 year olds and 12 – adult.  ‘Phone Claire on 07890 347 838 or email her at  claire@firstparenting.co.uk

We also discussed seating for the willow-dome in the park, a possible tennis/bowls marathon, a professional children’s theatre production during half-term in October and the installation of a path to the play area.

The Easter Antics event had been successful and our next meeting is the AGM at 8pm on Thursday, 14th July 2011 in Bulphan Village Hall.
