Following reports in the media about Southend Credit Union Ltd, Essex Savers net Credit Union Ltd has moved to reassure its members and the local community.
Alison Davies, President of Essex Savers said: “Essex Savers net Credit Union Ltd is not affected by any of the events at Southend Credit Union.
Essex Savers, as a neighbour to Southend Credit Union, is now offering membership to Southend Credit Union members and any who ‘live or work’ in Southend. This is being facilitated at Southend Credit Union’s premises, 3 Warrior Square, where Essex Savers Southend Branch will now operate with the help of Southend Credit Union volunteers.
“Each credit union in Britain is a separate financial co-operative, owned and controlled by its members, so events at any other credit union, do not affect us.
“We continue to work hard to provide the best possible services to our members, providing affordable loans and safe savings. New members are always welcome.
“Essex Savers net Credit Union Ltd is regulated by the Financial Services Authority and covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, so the first £85,000 of a member’s savings are completely safe.”
