SUPERMAN, Wolverine and Batman were among the heroes who turned up for lessons today at Palmer’s College, Grays, for Superhero Friday.
The Palmer’s Student Executive spent the day in fancy dress, sold homemade cakes and organised a tug of war tournament for the event to raise money for Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
Teams of four took to the College’s playing field for the tug of war tournament, but our student teams proved no match for the might of a very competitive quartet of Palmer’s sport staff who went undefeated.
The event raised over £80 for the charity which cares for children and their families across Essex and London.
Little Havens Children’s Hospice is the Palmer’s Student Executive’s chosen charity of 2010/11. Throughout the academic year, the Exec will be involving students and staff in fundraising events for the charity, and will present them with the total raised in summer 2011.
Mark Vinall, Principal, said, “Our Student Exec did another great job in raising much needed funds for Little Havens and I look forward to finding out how much they have raised for the charity over the last year. The tug of war tournament was a great addition to all the fundraising events they have arranged recently, but next time, I hope we find a student team who can beat our sports staff!”
