Kenningtons Primary School travelled to Basildon Sporting Village on Wednesday 25th May to represent Thurrock SSP in the Essex County High 5 Netball competition.
On a lovely warm sunny day the team faced tough competition from 14 SSP’s.
Placed in pool B Kenningtons played superbly throughout their 6 matches winning 5 and drawing just one. This meant they topped the group and went on to face runners up of pool A, Katherine Semar, in the semi finals.
Competition was fierce and having placed 6 matches already the teams were all tired but fought on bravely. It was a closely fought match, but Katherine Semar unforunately came out on top winning 8-5.
This meant Kenningtons then faced the runners up of the 2nd semi final, Mildmay, who were runners up in their group, having only beat them by 1 goal in the pool round they knew it was going to be a close match.
Kenningtons fought right to the end, but unfortunately were pipped at the post and lost by just 1 goal making them take 4th place overall in the competition.
The team were disappointed not to come away with a medal but were extremely gracious in defeat, they did their school and the partnership proud, to finish 4th out of 14 schools is a fantastic achievement.
Thanks to Mrs Bee and Mr Perry who have coached the team this year, the team have achieved a great deal this season winning both the Western League and Partnership Rally and now coming 4th in the whole of Essex!
