Bell-ringing appeals to Grays church

BELL-RINGER, Louise Amery-Richardson put it succinctly. We asked Louise why the sound of bells was so attractive. Louise thought about it and said; “It may be the sound of calm in an increasingly busy world.”

The bells at St Peter’s church in Grays were silent for a number of years but after an appeal, the number of bell ringers has grown and grown.

Through the tutelage of Andy Martin, the team have grown in confidence and ability.

YT visited the ringers at practice on a Monday evening and discussed the growing popularity of bell-ringing.
