The Summer Term is a very busy time for Thurrock Music Services with the following events happening before the schools finish at the end of July:
Thurrock Strings Orchestral Concert – this is happening on Saturday 2 July 2011 at 7.00pm at the Culver Centre, Daiglen Drive, South Ockendon. Membership of the Thurrock Strings Orchestra now stands at 35 young musicians. They will be delighting their audience with a wide and varied repertoire. Tickets are available on the door.
Infant Music Festival – 34 Infant Schools to take part in this event on Monday 4 July and Tuesday 5 July 2011 at the Civic Hall in Grays. The children have been working on the repertoire since January and this year’s theme is Weather.
Wind Ensemble Concert – featuring the Thurrock Show Band and Training Windband will take place on Thursday 7 July 2011 at the Culver Centre, Daiglen Drive, South Ockendon at 7.00pm. Tickets will be available at the door.
Classical Guitar Concert – This will be taking place on Wednesday 20 July 2011 at 7.30pm at the Culver Centre in South Ockendon. This concert will include performances from several ensembles and solo artists from Thurrock. Tickets will be available on the door.
Junior Music Festival – Nearly a thousand students from 26 local Primary Schools will be taking part in this event at the Civic Hall in Grays on Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 July 2011. This showcase event will feature a diverse selection of songs from artists such as The Beatles and The Carpenters as well as family favourites from the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Ensemble items are also included in the programme including Woodside Primary’s Steel Band! The Festival starts at 7.30pm and tickets will be available on the door.
Thurrock Youth Orchestra’s Royal Opera House Celebration of Culture As part of the Thurrock International Celebration of Culture, the Thurrock Youth Orchestra will be working with the Royal Opera House in a joint concert on Sunday 17 July 2011 at the High House Production Park in Purfleet at 7.00pm. The concert will feature the Thurrock Youth Orchestra, the Opera House Community Choir and African Drumming. Entry to the concert is free. The children will have rehearsals with a conductor from the Royal Opera House on Tuesday 21st June and a rehearsal with the conductor and singers from the Royal Opera House on Tuesday 5th July.
