A man has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm and false imprisonment after an incident in Orsett.
Police were called after a man went into premises on Ongar Hall Farm Estate, Brentwood Road, at around 2.40pm on Thursday, July 7, 2011 and threatened three people with a weapon.
Officers negotiated with the man who was arrested about an hour later.
Paul Smethurst 35, of Godman Road, Grays, was also charged with criminal damage and theft, both at Basildon Hospital on June 27, 2011.
He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court today, Saturday, and was remanded in custody.
