IT SEEMED very likely to St Clere’s school would find it very difficult to top the 22% increase in its 5 GCSE’s at A* to C mark last year. Somebody clearly forgot to tell this years cohort as they increased by another 3% to 70%.
The significance of that figure is that it takes the school to second place in the rankings, leaping above Grays Convent and perhaps most significantly, Gable Hall.
Anyone who regularly visits the school will know that it has a real focus and this has been borne out by the huge achievement.
But perhaps most importantly, the boys are catching up the girls with 68% of boys gaining 5 or more A* to C. That figure is hugely significant.
There are other key achievements including 93% of pupils gaining two or more GCSEs in Science.
With the school about to become a Co-operative Academy next month, these are indeed exciting times for St Clere’s.
