West Tilbury WI: August report

Jackie Avoilet came to West Tilbury WI to Talk about her garden, this very entertaining lady has been a keen gardener for many years and has just sold her Rosie’s Garden Centre in Kent to move on to her life’s ambition to create a garden where every flower and shrub has a name that visitors will recognise; this is a wonderful idea to give birth to a place where everyone can find their own name on one of her plants.

Jackie is also a specialist in Hardy Geraniums. She gave the members an idea of her expertise by asking each lady her name and giving a demonstration of what flower shrub and even vegetable that has their name attached to it. There was much laughter when someone was either named as having a Potato or Rubarb with her name attached to it.

An outing is to be arranged to Hyde Hall in December to see the Christmas Trees adopted by WI’s that are to be decorated with recycled materials.

The West Tilbury Ladies annual Bazaar is to be held here at West Tilbury on 19th November. Members were asked to give their support.
