A lacklustre first 45 minutes saw little to keep the fans interested, only one real chance was created and that fell to Thurrock captain Dean Cracknell in the 12th minute.

Alex Osborn made a fine run down the right pulled he back from the touchline for Glenn Poole to send over an accurate cross that found Cracknell in space 8 yards out, only for the ball to glance of his head and wide of the goal.

The second promised more and around the hour mark Thurrock hit a purple patch and only some excellent goalkeeping from visiting keeper Lee Worgan kept the scores level.

Lee Boylan and Steve Ferguson both had splendid chances first Worgan saved diving to his right then Boylan had a close range header saved diving to his left and then Steve Ferguson drove in a deflected shot that Worgan again saved.

Tonbridge still failed to make the Thurrock keeper work up until the 85th minute when Frannie Collin pounced onto a loose ball on the right and drove a fine shot making Holloway saved to his right.

Minutes later Reece Harris saved Thurrock once again the defence was stretched an as the ball was sent low into the six yard box with Jon Main waiting to tap in Reece Harris outstretched toe just managed to deflect the ball wide for a corner.

In the final minutes both Glenn Poole and Danny Hockton had chances but their shots were off target.

At the final whistle Thurrock must feel that its two points lost but the signs are promising and it will be another test next week away to Havant & Waterlooville.
