A motorist has been killed in a road crash in south-west Essex.
The collision happened near Aveley when a van struck the rear of a stationary lorry which was parked in a layby on the westbound carriageway of the A13 just after the junction with the M25 shortly before 4:30pm on Tuesday, October 4.
The driver, and only occupant of the van, was certified dead at the scene.
A section of the A13 has been closed while emergency services deal with the incident scene. Police are hoping to open one lane before 7pm, but the carriageway is not expected to fully reopen until 10pm.
