THE WORK THAT Ormiston Park Academy (OPA) has already undertaken with pupils with special needs is remarkable. Anyone who has visited the Ascend base and spoken to the team headed by Nathan Hunisett will be overawed by their vision and purpose.
The good news for the Academy continues as tomorrow night, the Thurrock Council cabinet are set to approve the allocation of £1.5 million of funding to develop a specialist resource base for pupils with behaviour, social and/or emotional difficulties (BESD).
OPA was one of the few schools in the country to retain funding after Building Schools for the Future (BSF) discontinued.
Recently, YT caught up with headteacher, Tess Walker to talk about the progress the whole school is making.
