Another busy month for the Mayor

IT SEEMS THAT every where you turn, Mayor of Thurrock, Charlie Curtis is there. From Aveley to Corringham, Charlie has relished the role with gusto.

YT was even in the press box at East Thurrock’s FA Cup game on Saturday and there was the mayor leading out the teams! Then again, Charlie has a proud sporting pedigree as he was once on the books at Spurs.

At last nights council meeting, Charlie detailed just some of his engagements. A family fun day at Treetops, Mardyke Rotary Club awards; Essex Police special constable awards; Sickle Cell Society; DP World London Gateway with the Duke of Edinburgh; Thurrock Community Chest, Thurrock Council long service awards; Fostering service and many many more.

Mayor Curtis should be proud of his six months in service and we should all be proud of him.

  1. Hmm, yet again the listing is similar to that of the Deputy Mayor, there is a lot of fleshpressing and free loading but not a lot of actual work being done.

What is the total cost to the local tax payers for having a Mayor and Deputy Mayor, surely the majority of the functions could be attended by the Leader or his Deputy thus saving even more cash for the borough
