GRAYS ATH enjoyed a Saturday stroll in the idyllic surroundings of Whyteleafe in Surrey as they won 3-0 in the first round of the FA Trophy.
Grays started brightly. In the 4th minute, Jean-Michel Sigere burst through from outside the area, passed to Joao Carlos who crossed to David Cowley but he blasted from close range straight at the keeper.
Grays soon broke through. In the 8th minute, Louis Dennis placed the ball home from close range after the keeper could only parry away Joao Carlos’ shot.
It was soon 2-0 as Harry Agombar repeated the trick. Grays were simply walking through a very shoddy Whyteleafe defence.
Grays had complete control of the game while the Leafe had no concept of industry.
In the 35th minute, a great header from Kenny Beaney brought an even greater save out of the Leafe keeper.
And a minute later, David Cowley fired a screamer over the bar from thirty yards.
Grays stretched the lead in the 58th minute after deft work in the area saw Louis Dennis trick the keeper.
To be fair if it wasn’t for the ‘leafe keeper it could have been a lot more.
At the other end it wasn’t until the 73rd minute that Andy Hall had anything to do as he produced a good smother block.
Grays were able to introduce Stuart Thurgood back into the fold to the joy of the fans as well as new signing Stanley Muguo.
