FA Cup: East Thurrock preparations in full swing for biggest day in history

MONDAY evenings are usually quiet affairs over at Rookery Hill but not yesterday as preparations are in full swing for the clubs big day on Saturday (2pm kick off) as they face Macclesfield Town in the 1st round of the FA Cup.

ITV have already been down to put the stands up. The extra stands are up. The ticket office is busy as the club expects huge demands. There are new seats in the press box (thanks lads), new banners adorn the sides of the ground.

It is very much a family affair as the boss John Coventry and his family put all hands on deck to make sure the club is ready for the game.

Meanwhile, club officials Mick Stephens and the irrepressible Neil Speight are a blur of activity around the ground.

And remember, all these people have day jobs as well!

YT caught up with boss John Coventry to gauge how preparations are going.
