Lakeside still doing its good deeds for charity

Lakeside Shopping Centre has almost reached the end of its 21 Good Deeds campaign and has donated more than 100 toys to Thurrock Women’s Aid, a nearby charity that supports local families seeking protection from domestic violence.

The toys will be enjoyed by hundreds of local children who, along with their parents, make the refuge their home and safe haven from abuse. Since they were generously supplied by Great Grottos (the company which manages Lakeside’s free Santa’s grotto), it seemed only appropriate to donate them outside Lakeside’s new, 3D grotto this Christmas.

Sophie Scott, Marketing Manager for Lakeside, says; “This worthy charity provides a huge amount of support to local women and children so it was great to be able to donate so many brand new toys to them – especially at this important time of year.”

Lakeside’s 21 Good Deeds, part of the centre’s 21st birthday celebrations, have been helping local charities throughout 2011 with donations and funding. The Lakeside team have also been getting out and about in the local community, doing all they can to help with a number of hands-on projects.
