Man dragged from Mercedes and robbed at Lakeside

Police are appealing for witnesses from London, Kent and Essex after a robbery at Lakeside Retail Park, Thurrock.

At 5.15pm on Wednesday, December 21, the victim (a man in his 20s) was sat in his Mercedes car on Lakeside Retail park, near Costa Coffee, when two vehicles circled him before boxing his vehicle in. They then smashed the window, forced him out of the car and hit him, causing no visible injuries. The car, a silver Mercedes C200, was then stolen. The car is worth approximately £10,000.

Investigating officer, Ds Mike Wilkinson, said: “This kind of robbery is rarely reported in this area, and it would have been very traumatic for this victim. The retail park was very busy with Christmas shoppers at the time, and we believe people that witnessed this were frightened and fled into the nearby shops.

“We desperately need these people to contact us, as we need to know what directions the vehicles went, and anything else they saw. If you are worried about contacting police, you can always do it anonymously through Crimestoppers. If you were there, please do the right thing and tell us what you saw.”

The suspects were three black men. One was of a muscular build and in his 20s.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ds Mike Wilkinson at the Thurrock CID target team on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  1. Where were all the extra Police at Lakeside?
I found a Gucci ladies large purse in a puddle outside M&S this Wednesday afternoon. It had obviously been stolen, riffled and dumped, leaving just a few till reciepts etc.
I went inside the Lakeside center to hand it into the Police. Gave up after 10 mins search, so gave it to a Lakeside security who couldn’t really be bothered.
