At around 9.30pm on Friday, January 20, a suspect approached the victim, a man in his 60s, as he was getting into his car and showed him a screwdriver before demanding money. The suspect tried to grab the victim’s bag and punched the victim in the face, but made off empty handed. The victim sustained swelling to the left side of his face, bruising under his left eye and cuts to his lips.

Investigating officer, Dc Peter Harvey, said: “This was a nasty attack on this man, who was just going about his business when this happened. As the victim was driving off, he was following a small silver vehicle, believed to have been a Fiesta, which had just past him whilst the incident was occurring. We would be very interested to speak with the driver of this vehicle, as they may hold information vital to our investigation, so if this was you, please call us.”
