POLICE are searching the Thames today after a man jumped from the QE2 Bridge.
The man, in his mid-20’s, lived in Kent and was seen leaping from the bridge in the early hours of this morning (January 25) after stopping his car on the crossing.
A search is on-going in the areas beneath the bridge to try and locate the man.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “The vehicle stopped on the Dartford Crossing, where the driver ran from the vehicle and jumped from the bridge.”
Yesterday evening, (January 24), police were contacted regarding the welfare of the man and details of his vehicle were placed on the police national computer reports ThisisLondon.
In the early hours of this morning (January 25), the vehicle activated automatic number plate recognition cameras on the northbound M25 near the Dartford Crossing.
Essex Police officers later spotted the vehicle heading south on the motorway, towards Kent, before it stopped on the bridge.
The Gravesend RNLI Lifeboat was called to the scene at 1:30am to assist police with the search.
